One person was killed in a crash on the N3 near Peter Brown Drive in Pietermaritzburg on Monday morning.
According to Mi7 National Group’s Emergency Medical Services, the driver of a vehicle lost control, causing it to overturn, and ejecting the driver onto the freeway.

Tragically, the driver was struck by a passing vehicle on the northbound carriageway and was declared dead on the scene by Mi7 medics.

Another person in the vehicle was stabilised and taken to hospital.
Shortly after the accident, Mi7 said a second crash occurred when a light delivery vehicle collided with the initial overturned wreck.

The two occupants in the second vehicle were injured but were stabilised before being taken to hospital.
Mi7 urged motorists to exercise caution while travelling on the N3 in both directions until the scene is cleared.
