The body of a man was discovered in a dense bush between Oaklands & Mount Vernon on Friday.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to the area at 15:27. On arrival, Reaction Officers & Paramedics met with an intoxicated male.
He stated that he made the discovery while searching for wood before 08:00. He continued consuming alcohol and forgot to report the discovery for nearly eight (8) hours.
He led Officers into a dense bush and along a river bed. The deceased was located a few metres above the riverbank. His body was as in a state of decomposition.
It was confirmed that the man was a vagrant living in the bush for nearly 20 years. The deceased was last seen in the area a week ago.
He informed residents that he was unwell and receiving treatment for an unknown ailment at a medical facility.
