Emergency services rushed to the scene, but there was nothing they could do to save the occupants of the car. All six were pronounced dead on site.

Those who perished in the crash have been named as Vuyani Gcaleka (43), Nokuphakama Mnyango (85), Nkosingiphile Mnyango (53), Senamile Buthelezi (29), 12-year-old Ayanda Mthembu, and five-year-old Lubanzi Buthelezi.

The deaths include elderly family members as well as two young children, deepening the heartbreak felt by relatives and the broader community.

According to information shared by those close to the family, the group had been travelling together to attend a family event when disaster struck.

The sudden loss has left loved ones struggling to come to terms with how quickly their lives were taken.

Residents of Mfolozi and surrounding areas have described the family as humble, close-knit, and deeply rooted in the community.

News of the crash spread quickly, prompting an outpouring of grief, with many expressing shock at the scale of the loss suffered by one household in a single moment.

Authorities have confirmed that an investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.

While details surrounding the circumstances of the collision have not yet been made public, officials have once again urged motorists to drive with caution, especially on national routes that experience heavy traffic.

The tragedy has renewed calls for improved road safety and heightened awareness, particularly during periods when families travel together for social and cultural events.
