A 64-year-old grass cutter was attacked by a swarm of bees this morning (Tuesday) while maintaining a property in the Cottonlands – KZN.
The incident occurred after the man accidentally disturbed a hive, resulting in multiple stings across his face and body.

Residents in the vicinity contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) at approximately 08:24, reporting that the man had become unresponsive.
Reaction Officers along with RUSA Paramedics were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, First Responders found the victim conscious but severely stung.
He played dead in an attempt to deter further attacks by the bees.
Reaction Officers, assisted by a resident, safely removed the man from the immediate danger.

The victim received on-site medical treatment for his injuries and was subsequently transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care.
