Chris Q Radebe is a South African actor and scriptwriter. He started to nurse the idea of writing when at a young age.

Radebe is best known for featuring Dabula in the Mzansi Magic soap opera Isibaya. He never allows any challenge and difficulty to come to terminate his dreams.

Early Life

Chris Q Radebe was born on December 19, 1983, in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. He was born into a family of four children, three girls, and a boy. His mother Tholani single-handedly raised him and his siblings.

The experience he had growing up was a bitter one, his mother couldn’t afford them a home of their own. They moved to live with loved ones, relatives, or friends, staying for a few months before they relocate again to someone else.

His father Shayizandla separated from his mother, at first, Chris taught his father was late. In 1991, he followed Shayizandla to Gauteng when he was seven years old. His father had married again and worked as a miner. Sadly, his mother died in 1995.

After completing his matriculation, Chris popped up at the national TV channel SABC and asked to take the scriptwriter’s test. He did well and was offered a role for the series Isidingo.

Unfortunately for him, he did not have any personal computer to complete the job. Chris had to leave work for a while for some other odd jobs and later saved up the money for a laptop. Chris Q Radebe began his scriptwriting adventures.

Personal Life

Chris Q Radebe has three sisters, Ginephi, Zandile, and Zethu. His father Shayizandla is a miner.

Chris is single and has not said anything about having a partner anytime soon. For now, he focuses on creating riveting scripts for productions.

Chris Q Radebe Career

Chris has worked with many movie production companies in South Africa. As an actor, he has featured in many local television telenovelas, soap operas, and dramas.

He worked as a story liner and head-writer for the soap opera Uzalo. In 2013, he played a cameo role on the SABC1 sitcom titled Single Guyz and Romeo in season 2 of the Mzansi Magic soap opera Isithembiso.

On July 23, 2018, he made his first appearance as Chief Dabula on the Mzansi Magic soap opera Isibaya. In 2019, he starred as the title character in the Mzansi Magic period drama series titled Ifalakhe.

After his matric, Chris requested a scriptwriter test at the SABC and was successful. The organizers offered him a job on the television show. He was without a laptop which was compulsory to work.

He got a job as a security guard in Durban, South Africa until he saved to get a Personal Computer. With his laptop, he went back to Johannesburg to being his journey in scriptwriting. Later, he was drafted to write for the popular series Rhythm City.

Today, he has many scriptwriting credits to his name including Uzalo, Zabalaza, Isidingo, Isibaya, The Queen, and The River. He is one of the writers of the popular drama series Gomora.
