Local resident, Sbongiseni Ngubane says the 20-year-old was seen with friends in May.

He says the community joined the search to find Zungu after his family reported him missing.

Friends under suspicion
Following the discovery of Zungu’s body, police arrested two suspects, aged 19 and 20, in connection with his death.

Ngubane claims the pair had been friends with Zungu.

Ngubane says the family and community members are devastated.

“We were very worried, and we are still worried even now. Since May, the community, the CPF, Community in Blue and the police have all been searching.

“We shared videos and photographs, appealing to anyone who had seen the missing young man to come forward with information. We are still deeply affected because two of his friends were arrested.

“One other person is still missing; we don’t know whether he fled or where he is. The young men involved are from the Mlaba Village community.”

“It appears that their families have since moved away, there has been no one at their homes.”
