Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Lazarous Kambole has been released by Young Africans after spending just three months with the club.

According to The South African, Kambole formed part of the major exodus at Chiefs, at the end of the previous season, after which he joined Tanzanian champions Young Africans.

After scoring just a meagre two goals in three seasons at Chiefs, it perhaps no surprise that Kambole was eventually released by the club.

In fact, what could have maybe been a surprise would have been the fact that he lasted as long as he did at Amakhosi.

His move to Young African’s was supposed to be seen as a phase of revival for the Zambian international, but he has since failed to get that grace period in East Africa.

Kambole signed for Young Africans on a two-year deal upon leaving Chiefs, but to the shock of many a football supporter, he found himself discarded without even kicking a ball for the club.

Now a source close to the situation has given more insight to Soccer-Laduma about the details and reasons why he was released.

“Kambole’s case revolves around the fact that he was a top earner, earning approximately 136 000 but wasn’t giving the club (Young Africans) anything in return due to his injury.

“He was an uninformed signing from the club who took him just because he was coming from Kaizer Chiefs and arrived sluggish before picking up an injury.

“The injury he has picked means that he cannot compete at the level that Yanga require from him, that is why he has been moved to a lower level in Uganda.

“He can play but not a high level and maybe if he can recover fully by the end of the year, he might be considered for a return, the guy is not okay now”.  Concluded the source.

The only solace in this situation for Kambole is perhaps, the fact that he was able to quickly get another club in quick succession, despite his fitness woes.

According to the Tanzanian Football Federation website, he has signed for Club Wakiso Giants in Uganda.
