Akpeyi not joining Sekhukhune united: It is believed that Akpeyi had agreed a deal in principle to sign a one-year contract with Babina Noko.
But it appears things have changed over the last week or so, with Sekhukhune seemingly pulling out of the deal.
Swallows FC posted a video on their Twitter page, showing the former Kaizer Chiefs shot-stopper in training with the team.
According to information received by the Siya crew, Sekhukhune were looking to register the Nigerian international as a local, but it’s understood there was concern over the process, due to time and how costly it would have been.
“He started training with Swallows today (Tuesday),” an informant said.
“Sometimes the process of registering a player as a local can take three to six months, so Sekhukhune felt that the process would have been costly and it would take too long.”
“A deal had been agreed in principle, so nothing was signed as concrete.”
“I know that he is working on getting his papers to become a local and we will see how long that takes,” he added.
Akpeyi has previously been linked with the Dube Birds, who are believed to still be in the market for an experienced goalkeeper.
