On Monday, 1 December, Mzansi’s number one radio station, Ukhozi FM, unveiled its much-awaited New Year’s Eve crossover top ten songs.
This comes after the station with more than seven million listeners changed the criteria for the much-contested top ten competition known as Ingoma Ehlukanisa Unyaka.

In past years, the Durban-based station asked its listeners to nominate and vote for their favourite songs for the top ten.
This year the station introduced a new process. The station gave listeners the top 20 songs, and listeners were asked to vote for their favourite ten from this list.
The top ten songs voted by listeners were unveiled by Ukhozi FM presenter Khathide ‘Tshatha’ Ngobe during his afternoon drive show.
The show was broadcast live at Mojo’s Carwash & Shisanyama in Chesterville, west of Durban.
The top ten songs are:
• Skills ft Zee and Sykes – Mamma
• Sam Deep, Nia Peal, Boohle, Mano – Shela
• Zee Nxumalo & Dlala Thukzin – Mali
• Jazzwork, Thukuthela – uMa wengane
• Mawhoo ft GL_Ceejay, Thukuthela and Jazzwork – Bengicela

• Ciza ft. Jazzwork, Thukuthela – Isaka
Sjava – Uyena

Listeners will now vote for their favourite song to usher them into 2026. The number one song will be played during the year crossover.
For many years, more than 7 million listeners have trusted Ukhozi FM to do the countdown for the new year and play their favourite song to welcome the new year.
