Three women were killed in a horrific car accident in the Dalton area on Tuesday afternoon, after a driver lost control and hit into them while they were walking along the road.
Mi7 National Group said its emergency services responded to reports of a motor vehicle accident just after 2pm and arrived at the scene to find total carnage.
“It is believed that the driver of the vehicle had lost control, running over three women.
“It is believed the vehicle only came to a halt about 100 metres from the initial impact point,” the statement read.
The extent of injuries was not disclosed by the emergency respondents, however, the three pedestrians were declared dead on scene.
The driver of the vehicle was transported to hospital privately.
Police are investigating the accident for further clarity on the situation.
