Emotions were high at the Mboweni residence on Friday where the remains of Finance Minister Tito Mboweni have arrived.
Mboweni succumbed to an illness at Milpark Hospital in Joburg almost a week ago.
Preparations are now under way for him to be buried in Limpopo on Saturday.
The family said this is part of Mboweni’s dying wishes, among several other things that they’ve asked not to be divulged as they are sacred and sensitive.
Before his arrival, his remains made their way from Joburg, where he died, to his private residence in Magoebaskloof where a prayer session was held.
He then made his last drive through the place he called home, driving past what locals said had become his regular or favourite hangout spots.
Later on Friday, another prayer session is expected to be held where community members will bid farewell to the Duke of Magoebaskloof.
