Sthandile Nkosi is a multi-talented South African qualified actress, voice-over artist, and social media influencer.
Early Life and Education
Sthandile Nkosi was born on September 24, 1993, in Soshanguve, Gauteng, South Africa. She attended Valhalla Primary School in Centurion.
Nkosi studied Dramatic Arts at Pro Arte Alphen Park High School in 2011.
She went on to graduate from Tshwane University of Technology, earning both a Diploma and B-Tech Drama Degree in 2015 and 2016 respectively, majoring in Directing and Scriptwriting.
Career
As a theatre-trained practitioner, Nkosi has participated in multiple school productions, including “A Woman in Waiting” as Young Thembi Mtshali (2014), “Alcohol DTI Educational Theatre Roadshow” as Xoli (2014), “Dipolelo Gotswa Borwa” (2015), the award-winning “Adaptation of Medea” (2015), “Ubulution” as Moloi (2016), “My Dog don’t like Black people” (2017), and “Reen Bloed Nasie” (2018).
She also wrote and directed her own play titled “Ninah” in 2018. Nkosi began her professional theatre career in the production “Saving Azania” in 2019.
Nkosi made her television debut in the series “Mtvbase Shuga Down South S2” (2018), where she played the roles of Cute Girl and Manicurist. She then appeared in the Netflix thriller series “Dead Places” (2019) as Mary, a young maid.
Nkosi also featured in the NFVF Female Film Slate production “Pretty’s Daughter” as Amy (2019) and played the supporting role of Amahle in the Mzansi Magic movie “Mamodibe” (2019).
In 2020, she starred as the antagonist Bethany Mazibuko in the children’s theatre piece “The Revealers,” which toured Johannesburg schools.
Nkosi later took on more serious roles, such as Koketso in Mzansi Magic’s “Nnake” (Leburugraphy picture) and Teaspoon, a trustworthy, streetwise, and sweet shop manager, in the first season of “Vula Vala” (2020 – Black brain Pictures).
Film
In 2022, Nkosi starred as the lead role of Ntsiki, a teenage girl who is a reincarnated goddess, in the Netflix original supernatural African-based series “The Brave Ones.”
This role required her to learn new skills, such as swimming and voice-over work. Also in 2022, she played the lead character Mbali in the production “uMbali” by Evod, portraying a former township beauty queen who would do anything to maintain a life of luxury and provide for her daughter.
Later that year, Nkosi joined the cast of “The Queen,” where she portrayed the sexy, evil, and money-loving character Londiwe, a rival of Harriet Khoza in the drug business.
In 2023, Nkosi appeared as the lead in a Benny stock cubes advert for the stockvel ladies.
She has also done voice-over work for the Netherlands animation “Panda Bear,” where she voiced the character of Kabora, an evil baboon who wants to steal Panda from China to South Africa.
Additionally, Nkosi shot a movie titled “Becoming Mrs Nkosi,” where she portrayed the role of Kgomotso Sithole, a conflicted young lady who stalks her half-sister to have the life she desires.
