What started as a pimple on the back of the head has now turned into a nightmare for Rethabile Ntoane.

The 27-year-old from Evaton, in the Vaal, said she first noticed what she thought was a pimple in 2018.

She was shocked when it started growing.

“I was pregnant when the growth first appeared. My child is now six years old, and this thing has grown big. It started as a small pimple on the back of my head but has now grown to the size of a baby’s head and the pain is unbearable.

“I went to a local clinic when this first started and was referred to Levai Mbatha Clinic. They too referred me to Sebokeng Hospital for further treatment.

“I’ve been sent from pillar to post and there’s been no help from two hospitals and two clinics. All they gave me were pills to ease the severe pain,” said Rethabile.

Rethabile said she recently asked for help on Facebook, but was bullied, with people calling her all sorts of names.

She said:

“I sometimes just want to kill myself in order to put myself out of this misery. I’m desperate to get help because I want to live a normal life like other young people my age.”

Rethabile’s mum, Ntjamme told Daily Sun they have taken her to hospitals numerous times because of the pain from the growth.

“It has not been easy for my daughter. All I want is for her to get the help she needs so she can live a normal life,” she said.

Gauteng Health spokesman, Motalatale Modiba said the hospital is aware of Rethabile’s condition.

He said Rethabile is a surgical patient and needs elective surgical procedure.

“She’s on the waiting list. However, priority is always given to emergency surgeries and at times, this causes patients on the waiting list to wait longer than expected.

“Several attempts have been made to reach Ms Ntoane on the provided contact numbers to invite her for a review, but the hospital couldn’t reach her,” said Modiba.
