Royal AM co-coach Khabo Zondo has commented on speculation linking Mamelodi Sundowns’ Kermit Erasmus to Thwihli Thwahla.

The “unhappy” Port Elizabeth forward has been linked with an exit from Masandawana due to his lack of game time.

Royal AM are among the clubs rumoured to be the next destination for Erasmus – and Zondo says he would like to add the 32-year-old to his squad.

“Well I don’t know, it’s the first time I hear of it,” Zondo told journalists at the Chatsworth Stadium following Royal AM’s defeat to Orlando Pirates in the MTN 8 quarter-finals.

“Kermit is a very very good player, if he is available and we can afford him, why not?”

Last week, Phakaaathi reported that the Pretoria club was considering loaning the former Stade Rennais striker back to Cape Town City.

The report also added that there were various clubs interested in his services and Royal AM appear to be one of them.

Erasmus’ interest is said to be in the Mother City club. However, it remains to be seen who lands his signature.

“Mamelodi Sundowns are expected to make a decision on Kermit Erasmus, who is understood to no longer be happy with the club because of the lack of game time” Phakaaathi reported.

“Erasmus could go out on loan back to Cape Town City, who are currently struggling to score goals, according to a source.”

“The case of Romeo (Erasmus) is not too complicated. He wants to play and coaches cannot guarantee him that,” said a source.

“There are a few clubs who have shown interest in the 32-year-old, but his heart is in the Mother City.”
