Nhlamulo “Nota” Baloyi is out on bail after spending a weekend behind bars.
According to Daily Sun, the controversial music executive was granted bail of R5 000 by the Randburg Magistrates Court in Joburg on Monday, October 7.
The 34-year-old appeared in court after turning himself in at the Randburg Police Station on Friday, 4 October.
He was charged with the rape of an actress and singer and spent the weekend behind bars. The court case has been postponed to Friday, 8 November for the verification of WhatsApp chats between Nota and the complainant.
Nota was granted bail under strict conditions, including that he’s prohibited from contacting the complainant directly or indirectly.
His attorney, Matamela Khorommbi, read an affidavit on his behalf in support of his bail application.
During the proceedings, the state read an affidavit from the complainant, opposing the bail request.
The complainant stated: “I strongly oppose bail being granted to Mr Nhlamulo Nota Baloyi due to the risk of continued harassment, intimidation, and retaliation against me.
“His actions following the incident, including publicly leaking sensitive information, attacking my character on social media, and attempting to manipulate the narrative, have caused immense emotional, psychological, and mental harm.”
Nota’s dad, who was present in court, expressed his relief that the investigation would proceed.
Nota filed for a protection order against the complainant on September 27, claiming that she was harassing and blackmailing him.
After being granted bail, an emotional Nota expressed his excitement and said: “It was an emotional weekend for me, from the moment my father brought me to Randburg Police Station. We knew I probably had to spend the weekend.”
