Two children aged two years and two months have lost their lives, allegedly at the hands of their mum.

According to Daily Sun, the two girls Nozibusiso and Nqobizitha Thusini were killed allegedly by their mum (28).

The two girls were found dead on Monday, 14 July at Ngonyameni, south of Durban in KZN.

It’s alleged that their mum strangled them, wrapped them with blankets and inserted their dad’s contact number inside the blankets.

The girls were found by residents and when they saw the dad’s number, they contacted him.

According to the girl’s gogo Zanele Khuzwayo, the mum was staying at her son’s place in Inanda while her son was away in Joburg.

She said seeing that she has a two-month-old baby along with the tw-year-old and was staying alone, she decided to ask the mum to come stay with her in Ngonyameni.

“I asked her to come because I wanted to assist her with the kids. They arrived on Thursday 10 July.”

“Everything was fine but she disappeared on Sunday. I didn’t know where she was and we searched for her with no luck,” she said.

She said on Monday she was informed that the kids were found dead in a nearby bush.

“She wasn’t seen in the area after we found the kids. She was eventually found on Tuesday, 15 July hiding in Msinga,” she said.

Speaking to Daily Sun, the girl’s dad Njabulo Khuzwayo (29) said he’s heartbroken after this.

“I don’t understand what could have led her into doing this. Everything was fine between us, I’m really confused. She was also questioned by the cops, and she too said she doesn’t understand why she did this,” he said.

KZN police spokesman Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed that the cops in Bhekithemba have arrested a 28-year-old woman for two counts of murder following an incident in which a two-year-old child and a two-month-old baby were found dead in the bushes at Isinkontshe area at eNgonyameni on Monday, 14 July.

“Police responded to reports of bodies of two children which were found and upon arrival at the scene, police found two bodies of children with head bruises and were declared dead at the scene. The motive of the killings is unknown at this stage,” he said.

He said the suspect is due to appear before Umlazi Magistrates Court on Thursday, 17 July.
