Gauteng ABC Motsepe League side Senaone Gunners have accused the match officials of gifting Jomo Cosmos a win in their opening encounter.

Head coach Gerald Modabi has questioned the standard of officiating in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Jomo Sono’s side.

Ezenkosi are now campaigning in the third tier of South African football following their relegation from the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season.

The fiery encounter produced four red cards in a hard-fought win for Cosmos.

“Cosmos might have won but football development continues to lose due to unethical football standards,” a disappointed Modabi tells KickOff.

“It is sad and very unfortunate. We lost 2-1.

“The referee awarded a very soft penalty in the dying minutes of the first half and gave us three red cards.

“We ended up playing with seven men. Yes, it was my first game and sadly the last for the Gunners.”

Contacted for comment Jomo Sono laughed off the accusations.

“What must the referee do if you headbutt an opponent? He should show you red,” Sono added.

“What must the ref do if you foul an opponent who is through on goal from behind? He must show you red?

“We were also given a red card, but we didn’t complain.

“We understand everyone in this league wants to beat Cosmos, which is a good thing by the way.”
