A Female cop (49) has allegedly shot and killed her son (26) along with his girlfriend (16) following a heated argument.
According to DailySun, the shocking incident occurred at the officer’s home in Mokomene Mashaha, Botlokwa, just outside Polokwane in Limpopo on Thursday, 13 February.
The cop, stationed at the Botlokwa Police Station, was arrested on the spot and is facing two counts of murder.
Limpopo police spokesman Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said following the incident, the police were summoned to the scene by the cop, who related what had transpired at her house following a heated argument with her son.
“Upon arrival with paramedics, they found the victim’s son motionless with gunshot wounds, holding a sharp instrument in his hand,” he said.
Ledwaba said the 16-year-old girl, who was also shot sustained serious injuries, was immediately transported to the local hospital for medical attention where she succumbed to the injuries.
“The police have opened two cases of murder. Further police investigations will determine detailed circumstances that led to the incident. The case is being handled by Ipid,” he said.
She will appear in the Morebeng Magistrates Court on Monday, 17 February, while investigations are ongoing.
The incident left villagers in shock.
“The cop should’ve known better to handle such a situation even though we don’t know what pushed her to pull the trigger.”
“These kinds of incidents make us fear being in the presence of the police because instead of them protecting us, they kill us. The incident has left us in shock and fear,” said villager Thomas Molokomme (40).
