Popular rapper Shebeshxt, who is currently in hospital, lost his daughter – Onthatile Chuene – in a car crash in Limpopo last weekend.

The family of controversial musician Shebeshxt (real name Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke) are hoping the musician will recover in time for him to bury his daughter.

CAR ACCIDENT CLAIMS LIFE OF SHEBESHXT’S DAUGHTER

The Ambulance rapper’s nine-year-old daughter, Onthatile Chuene, died during a car accident on the R37 road next to Smelters Mine in Limpopo on Saturday, 9 June.

Currently, Shebeshxt is receiving medical care at the Netcare Pholoso Hospital in Limpopo after his Volkswagen Polo crashed into a truck.

According to his mother, Mpho Chauke, the musician was travelling from Polokwane to Lebowakgomo with his daughter, and his long-time partner, Kholofelo Chuene.

He would have dropped them off at Kholofelo’s house before making his way to perform at an ANC Siyanqoba Rally celebration concert in Lebowakgomo. The event was scheduled for Sunday, 9 June.

FUNERAL POSTPONED TO NEXT WEEKEND

A source who spoke to Sunday World has revealed that the family had initially wanted to bury Shebeshxt’s daughter last Friday with the assistance of the Limpopo Arts Movement.

However, the funeral has been postponed to next weekend.

“They are hopeful that Shebeshxt would have recovered well enough to attend his daughter’s funeral,” said the source.

In addition, the source revealed that the artist is being investigated for culpable homicide.

CONDOLENCES

In a statement on Monday, the Limpopo Artists Movement (LAM) conveyed its condolences to Shebeshxt and his family.

“We cannot imagine the pain and grief they must be experiencing, but we want them to know that they are not alone,” reads the statement.

“The entire artistic community stands in solidarity with them, offering comfort and support. Shebe is not only a talented artist but also a valued member of our creative fraternity.

“We have witnessed his dedication to his craft and his passion for inspiring others through his work. We hope that our collective support will provide some solace during this trying period.”

LAM also revealed that some of its representatives visited Shebeshxt’s family, as well as the musician at the hospital. The organisation also urged other artists and fans to send messages of comfort to the Chauke family.

“Let us rally around them and offer a shoulder to lean on in their time of need. May Shebe’s daughter rest in peace, and may the family find strength in the love and support that surround them.”
