Former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Keagan Dolly has revealed how his move to SuperSport United failed at the last minute.
According to Kick-Off, Keagan Dolly’s move to Supersport united was good as done, however, there was a slight twist at the end.
The 31-year-old parted ways with Amakhosi at the end of the last season after enduring a difficult campaign with the Soweto giants.
Dolly made just eight appearances for Chiefs in his final season.
Shortly after that exit, the midfielder was reported to finalising a deal with Matsatsantsa and had even gone as far as passing a medical.
However, that deal never materialized, with SuperSport instead signing Vincent Pule, who had left Orlando Pirates.
Speaking on MSW, Dolly opened up on how the move fell through and insists he has no hard feelings towards Gavin Hunt.
“Firstly, the club (SuperSport United) wanted to make sure that I’m injury free, so they sent me for the medical and it came out clean,” Dolly explained.
“So all the injuries had healed, the doctor was happy and sent it to the club and it eventually went down to the club going for Vincent Pule.
“Coach Gavin [Hunt], a great coach with lots of experience and he worked with Pule before and explained to us [why he chose Pule].
“So, for me, there are no hard feelings, It’s part of football. Sometimes you get the team and the coach wants to work with you. Sometimes the deal doesn’t go through,” he added.
“I was a little disappointed but I’m also looking if there was a place for me somewhere else because, at this stage in my life, I wanted a place where I could enjoy my football again.
“We’re open to anything if the right project comes and it aligns with what we want as a family and what I want as a player and what I still want to achieve. I still want to win trophies, I want to go out and compete for titles.”
