Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out the Verulam Bus Rank on Ireland Street in the Verulam CBD – KZN after receiving reports of an abandoned baby in a bush today.
Reaction Officers met with the caller who stated that they heard a baby crying in the dense bush between the R102 and the bus rank.
They assumed that the child was abandoned and contacted the RUSA Operations Centre before they entered the bush.
They noticed the child on the ground and a couple having sex several metres away.
The couple grabbed the baby and fled onto the R102 after the group announced themselves.
Reaction Officers searched for the couple, but were unable to locate them.
