Seven people died on the N12 road between Ogies and Emalahleni on Monday morning, 8 December.

Mpumalanga Community Safety spokesman Moeti Mmusi said preliminary reports indicate that one of the vehicles lost control, veered off its lane, and crossed into oncoming traffic before colliding head-on with the other vehicle.
Mmusi stated that early indications suggest speed may have been a contributing factor.
“Five of the deceased were occupants of the sedan, and two were in the LDV.
“There were no survivors in this crash. The sedan had two females and three males, while the LDV victims were all males,” he said.
Mmusi confirmed that an investigation into the collision is already underway, and reckless driving cannot be ruled out.
Mpumalanga Community Safety MEC Jackie Macie has urged motorists to exercise heightened caution on the roads.
