An 8-year-old girl was brutally killed in the area of Ntshongwe, as her body was found covered with trees in the forest and her head was cut off.
According to Maputaland Community Radio, Mr Ntongolozi Gumede, Boyfriend of the mother’s child, revealed that the child was sent to buy tin of fish in the store to cook, and he said that when he saw the child leaving, she did not return and then he went to look for her.
He came to the store and asked if she had come and bought and left. He says that he continued to search and saw that her footsteps. He followed them but they ran out and he could not find it.
She says that her mother thought maybe she went to the neighbor’s house to play, she said that she continued to search the neighbors and nothing was found, until she went to her house where the child was born because she did not give birth but she met her mother when she was two years old and raised her, she says that they were told that she did not come.
He said that while he was walking on the road, he met a neighbor who helped him search for her in the forest but nothing was found until 8pm.
He and his Nephew said that they were going to the Police and while they were getting ready, a call came in saying that the child had been found murdered and her head had been cut off, and it was suspected that she had been raped.
He said that this is sad because the child is young and this is the first incident like this to happen in Ntshongwe area.
Mr Gumede says that what is bothering him is that he is accused of killing the child as it is said that why did he go alone to look for the child and let him start disappearing.
He says that there has been a lot of talk, and he started raising this child when she was little, even though they already had their own, the one who was killed, but he considered her as his child because he did everything for her.
The situation is still difficult for the mother of the child because she can’t eat food and she is still young at 21 years old.
Gumede says that it is clear that the person who did this has known the child for a long time and that’s why he killed her, and he also has hope that justice will be served, and once the killer is found, he will want his name cleared as he is being watched in this case.
