Two murder suspects were killed during a shootout with KZN police in a place called KwaNgcolosi in Durban.

It’s alleged that one of the dead men was being sought in connection with a string of murders in the Ngcolosi area in Durban, where the shootout took place on Saturday, 21 March.

A few days ago, an 85-year-old gogo and her 13-year-old grandchild were killed, while another person survived with injuries. They were shot in their beds at home.

On Saturday, 21 March, cops managed to locate the man and an accomplice who are suspected to be behind the deaths of the gogo and grandchild. Police found them in a rondavel.

It is alleged that the suspects opened fire when they were confronted, but they were killed as cops returned fire.

KZN police spokesman Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed the matter.

He said two suspects wanted for at least four counts of murder in the Hillcrest policing precinct, including the recent double murder of an 84-year-old woman and a 13-year-old girl, were shot and fatally wounded.

He said this happened in a shootout with police at a residence on Mkhelekehleni Road in KwaNgcolosi in the early hours of Saturday morning, 21 March.

“Police gathered intelligence about the whereabouts of the suspects, and when they arrived at the rondavel house in which the suspects were sleeping, a shootout ensued between police and the suspects,” he said.
