A 35-year-old man is expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court in connection with the murder of Relebohile Makhore (20).
According to Free State police spokesperson Thabo Covane, officers from Bloemspruit police station responded to a distress call reporting a serious incident in Phomolong Informal Settlement.
A patrol vehicle was dispatched to the scene.
“Upon arrival, police discovered the body of a young woman lying on the ground. She was declared dead at the scene, with indications that she had been assaulted,” Covane said.
A case of murder was subsequently opened at Bloemspruit police station.
Police investigations led to the identification and arrest of the suspect, who was taken into custody on Monday, 26 January.
The suspect is expected to make his first court appearance today, where he will face charges related to the incident. Police investigations are ongoing.
