The R31 between Barkley West and Koopmansfontein has been shut down completely after a serious head-on crash involving two side tipper trucks earlier this Friday afternoon.
According to truck drivers who arrived shortly after the collision, the impact left the roadway totally blocked with both vehicles badly damaged and debris scattered across the surface.

Traffic is currently at a standstill in both directions as authorities and breakdown teams navigate the scene.
Drivers on site told SA Trucker that at least one truck driver may have died in the crash, however this has not yet been officially confirmed by police or emergency services.
With visibility of the wreckage limited and responders still working their way into the mangled cabs, details around injuries or fatalities remain unclear at this stage.
Motorists travelling through the Northern Cape corridor are advised to delay their trips or use alternative routes. Recovery teams are expected to be on scene for several hours.
