A man is fighting for his life after being trapped beneath his own vehicle in a dramatic incident that unfolded in the Cowies Hill area on Sunday afternoon.
According to initial reports, the man had exited his light motor vehicle when it allegedly rolled forward due to suspected brake failure.

The vehicle struck him, forcing him through his property gate and into a concrete pillar, leaving him pinned beneath the car.
Emergency teams from multiple organizations responded after the Cowies Hill Emergency Group issued an urgent call for assistance.
Specialist rescue crews from S.T.A.R.T. Rescue and Red Line Response arrived with advanced hydraulic equipment, including the Jaws of Life, to stabilize and lift the vehicle.
Working alongside other responders, they successfully freed the injured man.
Once extricated, the patient was assessed and stabilized on scene by Red Line Response before being handed over to First Responder KZN for urgent transport to a medical facility for further care.
