Duduzile Zuma trial for allegedly instigating the July unrest is now ready to proceed.

The daughter of former president Jacob Zuma appeared in the Durban High Court on Thursday, 14 August.

She appeared in connection with the unrest and public violence that occurred in July 2021, in various parts of Mzansi.

The 42-year-old Zuma-Sambudla faces charges of Incitement to commit Terrorism, and two counts of Incitement to commit Public Violence.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) divisional spokeswoman Natasha Kara-Ramkison announced in court on Thursday that the judge has declared the matter trial-ready.

“The case was postponed for the trial, which will be held at the Durban High Court between 10 and 21 November 2025,” she said.

The uMkhonto Wesizwe (MK) party member of Parliamnt was released on warning and faces three charges related to the July 2021 unrest.

Zuma-Sambudla, aware of the investigation, willingly handed herself over on 30 January.

The State alleges that she incited these crimes through social media by repeatedly sharing videos and images of the unrest, promoting further illegal acts.

Her posts allegedly aimed to destabilise public unity and territorial integrity.

The July 2021 unrest resulted in more than 300 deaths and widespread destruction of malls and buildings.
