A mother searching for her 22-year-old son had a painful ending.
On Thursday, 1 May, the mum from Ndwedwe in KZN became worried when her son didn’t come back home.
She began searching for him and found him lying dead on the side of the road in a pool of blood. Her son had stab wounds all over his body.
It’s alleged that while he was drinking at a tavern, an argument ensued which led to him being stabbed to death. An Okapi knife believed to be his was found next to his body.
Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) spokesman Prem Balram said their members were called to the scene at about 5am.
“He sustained stab wounds to his head and face. A pocketknife was located next to his body. The victim’s mum informed Reaction Officers that she decided to conduct a search for her son after he failed to return from a tavern on Thursday afternoon, 1 May.”
“It was alleged that he was involved in an altercation with other patrons and repeatedly stabbed with the jagged edge of a beer bottle. This information could not be immediately confirmed,” he said.
KZN police spokesman Colonel Robert Netshiunda said: “Police in Ndwedwe are investigating a case of murder following an incident in which a 22-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by an unknown suspect on Thursday, 1 May 2025 at Ezindlovini area.”
