Banele Sikhosana, a late EMPD officer, was fatally shot last week while opening his tuck-shop in kwa-Thema.
His wife has been arrested this afternoon whilst preparing for the funeral, for allegedly orchestrating the murder of her husband with the assistance of a hitman, who has confessed to the crime.
This was reportedly not the first attempt on Sikhosana’s life; he previously survived a poisoning attempt by her.
Acting EMPD Chief of Police Julius Mkhwanazi stated that the hitman was paid by Sikhosana’s wife, with the final payment made after his death.
Police are still pursuing another suspect. The involved parties are set to appear in Springs Magistrate Court on Monday, prompting shock and concern within the community over the betrayal and violence within a family.
