Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has opened up on the exit of midfielder Njabulo Blom to Major League Soccer outfit St Louis City.

Blom, 23, ended speculation surrounding his long-term future by completing a January move from Chiefs to the MLS side led by former Amakhosi and Bafana Bafana defender Bradley Carnell.

It proved to be a switch benefitting both parties as Chiefs would have lost the player for free, should he have signed a pre-contract with a domestic rival or any other club with his contract with the club ending in June 2023.

Zwane, who played a pivotal role in his rise to professional football at the Soweto giants often praised him as the future of the club and his recent form in the six role saw him break into Hugo Broos’ Bafana squad last month.

“I’ve known Njabulo since he was 15 years old. He’s a hard-working player, a focused player. Given the opportunity, he grabbed it with both hands,” Zwane said.

“We are glad for him that he is going to another level, where he believes he will be taking his game to another level. It’s high time we as a nation export our players.
