Zamalek have successfully defended their Egyptian League title without being in action on Monday.
The White Knights could celebrate their 14th title after second-placed Pyramids lost 1-0 to Future and now can’t catch Zamalek anymore.
The log leaders sit seven points above Pyramids, who have just two games left to play, while Al Ahly only appear in third, 11 points behind the leaders.
Earlier in the campaign Al Ahly had led the log and actually beaten Zamalek 5-3 in the first half of the season, but the record champions dropped too many points in the second half.
Since Pitso Mosimane left, Al Ahly only won seven of their 15 league games, while Zamalek once again had an incredible finish to the campaign, winning their last 10 matches in a row, with three games left to be played for them.
Al Ahly’s title hopes were ended on Sunday when they 0-0 with Ismaily, making it impossible to catch their bitter rivals on the log.
Overall, Zamalek have now won 14 league titles in comparison to Al Ahly’s 42.
