Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) has reported that a 25-year-old mother of two was allegedly raped by approximately fifteen men while consuming alcohol on Saturday.
The complainant contacted the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations at approximately 08:04 requesting assistance this morning (Monday).
Reaction Officers met with the female near her residence in Waterloo, KwaZulu-Natal.
She explained that at approximately 21:00 on Saturday, she patronised a tavern to consume alcohol. She encountered a male who befriended her.
She awoke the following morning (Sunday) in a back room at the tavern, adjacent to the male she had met the afternoon prior. Her underwear and cellphone were missing.
Reaction Officers interviewed a second female who witnessed the incident. She informed Officers that the victim was heavily intoxicated and requested to take a nap in a room in the tavern.
She witnessed the group of males entering the room and taking turns to rape the female. She was also intoxicated and assumed that the victim had consented.
She informed the victim of the incident the following morning, but has no recollection of the incident
The complainant alleged that she was unsuccessful in making contact with Law Enforcement throughout yesterday (Sunday) and sought assistance from the RUSA Operations Centre more than 24 hours after the incident occurred.
