The shocking incident allegedly happened on Sunday, 24 August 2025, at her sister’s RDP house in Ga-Rankuwa, Tshwane.

The mum of a seven-year-old girl told Daily Sun she wanted justice and for her abusive husband to be thrown behind bars.

“He beat me with klaps, fists, logs, and even threw a cold drink bottle at me. My whole body is painful, my eyes were swollen, and I had to spend a week in Odi Hospital. I don’t love him anymore. He belongs in jail,” she claimed.

She claimed the abuse happened after she told her husband earlier in August 2025 that she wanted a separation because of his alleged jealousy and alcohol abuse.

But instead of walking away, he allegedly lashed out at her violently.

Her 49-year-old sister confirmed that she had already raised the issue of a separation during family meetings.

“I was part of the two-family discussions regarding the matter, and the matter is not yet concluded,” she claimed.

Activist group NotInMyName has stepped in to offer support. Secretary-general Themba Masango urged the victim not to back down.

“The perpetrator must be sentenced for this heinous crime. Women must be brave and not drop charges,” Masango said.

Gauteng police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed that a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm was opened at Mabopane cop shop and later transferred to Ga-Rankuwa Police Station.
