Kermit Erasmus has not played a single match this season, but Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro says he has been left impressed by the player’s high levels of fitness.

The 32-year-old’s lack of action did not deter him from getting into good shape the Spanish coach said of his new recruit.

Erasmus joined Buccaneers on transfer deadline day last Thursday and could be thrown into the fray straight away if his new coach’s words is anything to go by.

Addressing the media at the MTN8 press conference, Riveiro said Erasmus left a good first impression.

“Well, I found an experienced player, smart and professional because he is in a good fitness level so that tells me he was taking care of himself and he is a player who is ready to perform and ready to train”

“It takes time of course, he just arrived a few days ago, he has had a few experiences with the team and the methods and everything, so we need to be patient.

“We cannot think about what he did in the past, we have to think about what he can do for now and we need to be patient and understand that he just landed in our structure three or four training sessions ago and hopefully he can help us very soon,” he said.
