Namibian goalkeeper Virgil Vries has arrived at a new club as he seeks to find his way back after a year on the sidelines due to injury.

Vries last played in September last year while still in the books of Swallows before he suffered a knee injury which then forced him to undergo surgery in January.

It was the last of his seven appearances at Swallows last season after having joined from Kaizer Chiefs in 2019.

This website has now been informed that Vries is undergoing an assessment at AmaZulu.

“Vries is training with the club and has been here since last week.

“He is only training for now and has not been signed,” says a club official.

Usuthu have Veli Mothwa as their first-choice keeper with Gabonese international Jean-Noel Amonome as back-up.

They also have Olwethu Mzimela and Siyanda Khumalo.

Last month, Vries told this website that recently told this website that he was working his way back to fitness following the operation that he underwent.

Vries (31) has previously played for Golden Arrows, Carara Kicks, Maritzburg United, and Baroka.
