The police in Mpumalanga are investigating the deaths of two Eskom workers.
The contract workers were fatally shot on Thursday, 31 October, at about 8am in Ermelo.
According to police spokesman Colonel Donald Mdhluli the victims, aged 37 and 40, were reportedly taking a vehicle for a service in one of the mechanic’s workshops when they met their untimely death.
“The two are said to have dropped off a vehicle at Thusiville in Ermelo and were using another car as they were returning. It was during this time when they were attacked by their assailant(s).
“Details and circumstances surrounding this incident are still being investigated. A body of one of the victims was found inside the car, while the second victim was found outside the vehicle,” he said.
Meanwhile, the acting Mpumalanga police commissioner Major-General Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi reassured the public that the team of investigators has been assigned to probe this incident.
He said the members are working around the clock to bring the perpetrators to book.
“The SAPS members also found some empty cartridges at the scene. The motive behind the killing is unknown at the moment,” Mdhluli added.
