TS Galaxy coach Sead Ramovic was left fuming at referee Tshidiso Maruping for not giving his side a late penalty in the goalless draw against Royal AM at Chatsworth Stadium on Tuesday night.
He said if this was not given for a penalty then he doesn’t know what is a penalty after the ball was handled late inside the box but instead the referee, who was closer to the incident, decided to wave it away, leaving coach Ramovic furious at the end of the game.

When the final whistle was blown, he went straight to Maruping to express his anger but was able to be moved away by his team.
To make matters worse, Maruping gave one penalty to Royal AM in the second half after Tebogo Potsane was brought down, but Ruzaigh Gamilden’s unconvincing run towards the ball saw his spot kick crash the crossbar, leaving fans fuming.
“This was a clear, clear and absolutely clear penalty for us and if this is not a penalty then I don’t know what the penalty is,” said Ramovic.
“I said it many times – I just want a fair game for both sides. If the opponents get the penalty because their player played the ball with his hand, it should be a penalty.
“But in the same way, I feel if the opponent played the ball (and their player was tripped by ours), they should get the penalty. But it is not the first time.”
The incidents that have left Ramovic angry are against AmaZulu in the first half of the season, Swallows and worse of it all against Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium in October.

In that match, where Bernard Parker and Djakaridja Traore scored, Chiefs got a late free-kick outside the box and Keagan Dolly sweetly curled it to get a draw, leaving Ramovic fuming. The slow motion showed that there was no contact and free-kick should have not been allowed.
“We got now many times when we had clear penalties but we didn’t get a penalty, not even once,” he added.
“I feel so angry because the whole work of my players, the whole fantastic fight, we didn’t get the end we should get. What will happen? I don’t know.”
Ramovic felt Royal AM were protected by the referee by not awarding a penalty.
“I believe so. You all are smart journalists and absolutely clear and I believe that you understand the game,” he said.

“You can judge, you can write what you saw and what you feel. If I say what I’m feeling, I think I’ll get a lot of punishment so I don’t want to say anything.
“We would like that everyone should see that there’s a clear penalty and ask the referee why he didn’t give it because he was standing two meters away from the incident.”
