The suspects, driving a silver Corolla, were spotted at Kliprivier Road joining the N12 towards Soweto.

“When police tried to stop them, they sped off, sparking a heart-stopping high-speed chase and exchange of gunfire,” said Nevhuhulwi.

The chase ended between the Xavier and Soweto off-ramps, where the suspects’ vehicle came to a halt.

Three of the suspects were declared dead on the scene, while one was injured.

Cops recovered two firearms and some of the suspected stolen goods.

Gauteng provincial police commissioner Lieutenant-General Tommy Mthombeni praised the collaborative effort, highlighting the National Counter-Intelligence, Gauteng Tactical Response Team, Traffic Police Airwing, and private security teams for their role in keeping dangerous criminals off the streets.
