Former Baroka head coach Kgoloko Thobejane is cruising nicely at his new ABC Motsepe League club, Som United.
Thobejane’s side now boast a six-match winning streak in the North West third-tier league and have found the back of the net on 10 occasions.
To put a cherry on top, the club now has a balanced and organised defence and boast the best defensive record in their stream.
Thobejane’s charges have not conceded even a single goal in the process.
It goes without a doubt that almost every title-winning side needs a solid defence to provide the foundations for fruitful results.
United are currently placed second in Stream A of the provincial ABC League with 18 points,.
They are level on points with stream leaders Orbit College.
Only goal difference separate the two teams.
Thobejane joined the side last year in November after parting company with Bakgaga following a string of poor results.
Upon joining the Kameeldrift-based outfit, the 48-year-old mentor was given an ultimate mandate to help the club to win their stream.
And also qualify for the South African football third-tier national playoffs.
And with the God’s willing, gain promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
As things stand, Thobejane seem to be heading to the right direction as far as his mandate is concerned.
One can say the club’s hierarchy took the right initiative to bring in the experienced coach.
Thobejane seem to be bringing joy to the club and the team shows no signs of slowing down.
Even though, there is still a long way to go in the 2022/23 season, United fans are now full of hopes of their first league title.
United’s next assignment will be against NW Signal on Saturday, 28 January at Ikageng Stadium.
The kick-off is set for 15:00.
