SuperSport United announced the signing of attacker Abubeker Nasir from Betway Premiership rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.
“SuperSport United is pleased to confirm the signing of Ethiopian striker, Abubeker Nasir from Mamelodi Sundowns on a one-year deal,” SuperSport United said in a short statement.
The Ethiopian secured a lucrative move to the reigning Betway Premiership champions in June 2022 and went on to make just 17 appearances for the Brazilians over a two-year period in an injury-ravaged spell at Chloorkop.
Nasir registered four goals during his time at Sundowns and will now be aiming to resurrect his career at rivals SuperSport United who are seeking to strengthen their attacking department.
Head coach Manqoba Mngqithi had previously revealed following his side’s 4-1 win over Marumo Gallants on 24 September that Nasir had departed Sundowns ahead of sealing a move to SuperSport.
“Nasir is not at Sundowns at the moment and I think he’s at SuperSport,” Mngqithi said.
