Mamelodi Sundowns have discarded international defender Bangaly Soumahoro after mutually agreeing the termination of his contract with the defender returning to the Ivory Coast.

Soumahoro has resurfaced at former club ASEC Mimosas after finally finalising his departure from Chloorkop.

KickOff has revealed that Soumahoro agreed to the early termination of his contract and has since returned to his homeland where he is now training with former side ASEC.

The 31-year-old was signed back in June 2015 from the Ivorian heavyweights when Pitso Mosimane was at the helm.

The defender featured on 20 occasions in his first season as the Brazilians clinched league honours before then playing on 24 and 17 occasions in his second and third season.

However, from the 2018/19 season his playing time dwindled with just 10 appearances before a loan spell to SuperSport United for the second half of last season.

With Matsatsantsa he only played twice totalling just 46 minutes.

Upon his return to Chloorkop this season he was considered excess to requirements just like last season and has now decided to cut ties with the club.

Though he has been back with ASEC, Soumahoro is merely training with the club for now as he considers his options.

There has been mention of a possibility of a return to another PSL club while another opportunity in Tanzania is being considered.
