Mamelodi Sundowns forward Gift Motupa is a new boss of a football club that plays in the SAFA leagues.
This comes as Motupa purchased the status of Seshego Kings, who play in the SAFA SAB League, Capricorn Region, Stream B1 in Limpopo, according to FarPost.
The club has now been renamed Thogoaneng United FC “Ditau”. Thogoaneng Village in Ga-Chuene, Limpopo, is where Motupa was born.
Through his Gift Motupa Foundation, the 28-year-old also donates food and other staff annually to the less privileged.
The former Baroka and Orlando Pirates player says he aims to expose young talented youngsters from previously disadvantaged backgrounds to league football.
He also intends to promote the team to ABC Motsepe in the next two to three years.
Motupa started his professional career at Baroka in 2013 before joining Orlando Pirates in 2015. He spent the 2017/18 season on loan at Baroka after failing to cement a regular place at the Buccaneers.
Motupa was sold to Chippa United in May 2018 but joined Bidvest Wits in July 2018 without playing a single match for Chippa.
He joined Mamelodi Sundowns on a five-year contract in September 2020.
On Friday, Motupa made a return to action for Sundowns are a lengthy period on the sidelines.
He struck twice as the Tshwane giants dismantled a hapless La Passe of Seychelles in the CAF Champions League encounter.
Sundowns won the match 8-1, completing a 15-1 aggregate rout over the visiting side.
The Downs hitman has featured in 16 games in all competitions for the Tshwane giants, scoring three goals and providing three assists.
He will be looking to get more game time this season in the star-studded Sundowns side.
