Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has explained that his side’s long-term absentees Abdelmounaim Boutouil, Abubeker Nasir and Terrence Mashego will remain sidelined, along with Bongani Zungu and Haashim Domingo.

The Masandawana enter the clash at the FNB Stadium with a 14-point advantage over second-placed Richards Bay and a 19-point gap to Chiefs after winning their last 11 matches on the trot.

Sundowns have had some injury troubles this season but Mokwena insisted the treatment room is getting emptier as only a few names remain sidelined.

“Just the long-term situations with Abdel, Nasir and Terrence,” he said ahead of the clash.

“And then everybody else is slowly but surely making their way back into training.

“Bongani Zungu is slowly coming back into training, so not available for match selection of course, but back on the green pitch.

“Riva is on the green pitch, Haashim not on the green pitch yet, he suffered something just before SuperSport. So no Haashim again.

“A slight niggle from Gaston, something he picked up against SuperSport, but not something big. But not too many issues fortunately from an injury perspective.”

Downs visit the Calabash on Saturday at 20:00 in a much-anticipated DStv Premiership clash.
