Marumo Gallants midfielder Miguel Timm has emerged as a top target for newly appointed Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane but there are some concerns for Amakhosi, the Siya crew has been reliably informed.
In his recent press conferences, Zwane has openly stated his desire to stabilize the team with a defensive midfielder who has the ability to create play from deep, without giving away needless fouls and picking up cards in dangerous areas.
“Your number six should be a playmaker, your central defenders should be able to connect with your number eight or your number 10.
We don’t want a number six that will get yellow cards and red cards, we want a ball player because we want to build from the back, we want to play with flair and we want to dominate, we want our people to come and enjoy football, not Magidasbekhane [ a team with no structure].
That is not the Kaizer Chiefs that brought me here 22 years ago,” Zwane told journalists after Chiefs’ last match of the season.
If Zwane’s comments are anything to go by, then he is speaking about a player in the mould of Timm.
The Siya crew have been informed that Chiefs have expressed an interest in the 30-year-old, who will be a free agent at the end of the current season, but have cited concerns over his age, according to sources.
However, Chiefs’ recent transfer activity suggest that the club is not afraid to go for players over the age of 30 – if they fit the club’s needs.
The likes of Cole Alexander (32), Phathushedzo Nange (30) Sifiso Hlanti (32) Thabani Dube (29) were all roped in by the club at the start of the 2021/22 season.
With Zwane keen on a deep-lying playmaker and Timm, who is in the form of his life and about to be a free agent at the end of the season, it remains to be seen whether Amakhosi step up their interest in the Durban-born star.
Sekhukhune United are another team keen on his services, as reported by the crew.
