After fighting for his life in hospital, he has lost the battle.

Gospel singer Solly Moholo has passed away.

His team announced the sad news on Wednesday evening, 2 October.

Solly Moholo was known for his hit songs Ke Latlhile Bokinza and Robala ka Khotso.

“It is with great sadness that we are informing you on behalf of the Molokoane family, that is Solly Moholo’s family, that our beloved legend ‘Solly Moholo’ has sadly passed on,” they said.

The team said he passed away on 2 October 2024 whilst in hospital.

“Solly Moholo was hospitalised after falling ill following his pre-album launch tour in Botswana,” they said.

They added that he will be sorely missed. “May his laughter continue to echo the walls of heaven. Let us remember him fondly for the healing music he gave us over the years.”

“At this time, the family would like to request that they be given privacy and time to mourn the passing of Ntate Solly Moholo and prepare for his burial,” they said.

The team said details of his memorial and funeral will be shared in the coming days on all of Solly Moholo’s official pages.

“Please keep the family in your prayers,” they said.

LAM Provincial Chairperson Mphoza Mashabela said the passing of Solly will leave a big gap in the entertainment industry, especially the sion music genre.

“We lost Oleseng Shuping, Kenny Makweng, and now Solly Moholo. I’m so heartbroken. I planned to book him to perform at the Limpopo Legends Awards as a guest artist.”

“I know him very well: a humble man, a top producer, and he discovered Winny Mashaba. Late Matlakala and Mantly Sion Gospel. Limpopo people supported the music from the first album.”

“As LAM, we even tried to raise funds to pay his medical bills. Unfortunately, he left us. Only God knows who will celebrate his life forever,” he said.
