Orlando Pirates fullback Bandile Shandu has revealed the Soweto giants’ plan to beat Mamelodi Sundowns when the two teams meet at Orlando Stadium on Saturday, 4 February.
The two SA football powerhouses will renew their rivalry in a DStv Premiership clash in Soweto as they will face each other for the fourth time this season.

Both teams head into the match motivated, enjoying a good run. Pirates have registered three victories in a row, whilst Sundowns have won 13 consecutive matches.
According to FarPost, if they work as one unit, Pirates can end Sundowns’ 13-match winning streak and clinch all three points at the weekend.
“Orlando Pirates is a big club and we have great players, we just have to work as a team, as a collective doing our defensive duties properly,” Shandu told the media at Rand Stadium.
I think we can achieve that [stop Sundowns] by ensuring that we work on what the coach wants.
“It’s just a matter of working with one another and make sure we carry on with the plan as expected on game day, then the results will take care of itself.
“We’re aware of how they [Mamelodi Sundowns] play and the quality players they have. It’s just a matter of working on ourselves and improving the team from last game.”
With Sundowns sitting comfortably at the summit of the log, it will be difficult for Pirates to catch them. Shandu, therefore, outlined the team’s new goal for the remaining games of the campaign.
“As a club like Orlando Pirates, we, as players we, also want to be in the [CAF] Champions League [next season],” he added.
