A Limpopo mum wants justice for her toddler who passed away after she was allegedly turned away at a clinic.

Tebogo Padime (35) from Praktiseer in Burgersfort seeks justice for her daughter Revival Padime (2) who allegedly passed away after she was denied medical attention at the Praktiseer Clinic on Friday, 28 March.

Tebogo said Revival experienced nosebleeds and was turned away because she did not have a medical file at the Praktiseer Clinic.

“I was told to go to take my sick baby to a clinic where they have her file with a medical history,” said Tebogo.

After walking 5km from Praktiseer Clinic to Ga-Motodi Clinic, Revival was certified deceased by Ga-Motodi Clinic nurses.

“They examined my baby, took her clothes off to check her pulse. A few minutes later, they told me the child was no more,” said a distraught Tebogo.

She believes her baby would still be alive if she wasn’t turned away at the Praktiseer Clinic.

“I’m deeply hurt because, if we were not turned away at Praktiseer Clinic she would still be alive. They should have helped her on time and saved her life.”

Tebogo wants action taken against those who turned her away at the clinic.

“They must be held accountable for what they did to my baby,” she said.

Limpopo Department of Health has launched an investigation into the incident.

Department spokesman Neil Shikwambana expressed deep concern.

“Limpopo Department of Health has launched an immediate investigation into an incident that allegedly occurred on Friday, 28 March, at Praktiseer clinic.”

“It is alleged that a two-year-old toddler, who was experiencing a nosebleed, was turned away by clinic staff due to the child’s unavailable medical file.

“Sadly, the baby passed away before they could receive care at the other clinic which is 5km away.”

“The department is deeply concerned over this incident and commits to fully investigate the matter to determine circumstances to determine the next cause of action,” said Neil.

Baby Revival was laid to rest on Monday, 31 March.
