South African sensation Relebohile Mofokeng has continued his fine start to life in European football, scoring his second goal for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in a comprehensive 3-0 Belgian Pro League victory over Sint-Truidense V.V. on Wednesday night.

The 21-year-old forward, who moved to Belgium following a highly successful breakout stint with Orlando Pirates, found the back of the net in the 62nd minute to cap off a dominant performance by the away side.

The victory further cements Union Saint-Gilloise’s strong early-season form as they look to challenge at the summit of Belgian football once again.

The match at Sint-Truiden began with the visitors asserting their dominance early on.

Union Saint-Gilloise opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when defender Louis Patris clinical turned home an opportunity to give his side a deserved 1-0 lead heading into the halftime break.

Sint-Truiden attempted to adjust their tactical approach in the second half, but their efforts were quickly dismantled by an authoritative Union outfit.

Just ten minutes after the restart, Kevin Mac Allister doubled the visitors’ advantage. Following a VAR review that confirmed the goal in the 55th minute, Union Saint-Gilloise firmly held the reins of the encounter.

However, the definitive highlight for South African football fans arrived just seven minutes later.

Deployed as part of a dynamic front three, Mofokeng showed the blistering pace and sharp spatial awareness that made him a fan favorite back home in the South African Premiership.

In the 62nd minute, Mofokeng found himself in a pocket of space inside the penalty box, calmly slotting the ball home to make it 3-0.

The goal marks his second official strike for the club, adding to his maiden Belgian Pro League goal scored against K.V.C. Westerlo earlier in August.

Immediately after finding the net, Mofokeng was substituted in the 63rd minute, receiving warm applause from the traveling supporters and a celebratory reception from his coaching staff.

The tactical substitution allowed Union to lock down the game and preserve the clean sheet, sealing a flawless three-goal victory on the road.

Mofokeng’s transition to European football is progressing at an admirable pace. Having already represented Bafana Bafana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup earlier in the summer, the young winger is rapidly adapting to the physical and technical demands of the Belgian Pro League.

With two goals already under his belt in the opening stages of the 2026–27 campaign, Mofokeng is quickly justifying the immense hype surrounding his transfer.

If this trajectory continues, Union Saint-Gilloise may have unearthed yet another global gem, while South African football celebrates the rise of a truly elite talent on the European stage.
