Former Orlando Pirates star Thabo Qalinge is set to lose his R4 Million mansion after he dribbled homeowners of Eye of Africa of their levies.
Homeowners of Eye of Africa have declared war against former Orlando Pirates dribbling wizard Thabo Qalinge after the footie failed to pay his levies.
The news has since thrust him into top trends, with many trying to connect the dots about his financial woes.
THABO QALINGE SET TO LOSE R4 MILLION MANSION
Confirmed reports have it that the former Orlando Pirates star dribbled the owners of their levies.
Against their woes, the homeowners of Eye of Africa, a deluxe estate in the south of Johannesburg, have turned to the courts to recoup their money from the star.
However, Qalinge reportedly ruffled the owners’ feathers after allegedly sending phoney proof of a payment that never happened.
Sunday World reports that efforts to recoup the money have been ineffective after the sheriff failed to attach his movable property.
Rumour mill has it that the star’s wife made it known that she was left alone after the muso moved out of the lush mansion.
Thabo Qalinge’s alleged wife tricked the sheriff and made it known that she was a tenant who was renting out the star’s mansion.
However, Thano Qalinge’s tardiness has since left the owners of the luxurious estate to apply for a high court order to auction off his home to recover the levies.
The former Orlando Pirates star purchased the lush mansion on 31 October 2018.
However, over the years, he has failed to settle his levies, which have ballooned to thousands.
According to court papers, Eye of Africa Home Owners Association has it that Thabo Qalinge first incurred more than R99 000 in arrears in March 2021.
COURT PROCEEDINGS
A few months after the first judgement, a warrant of execution to sell Qalinge’s furniture was issued.
“The sheriff of Palm Ridge attempted to execute the warrant on 16 November 2021, but was unable to locate the first respondent or confirm if the first respondent resides at the given address,” part of the affidavit reads.
That same month, Thabo Qalinge entered into an acknowledgement of indebtedness with the owners and agreed to pay the arrears over 12 months.
“On 1 January 2022, the first respondent undertook further action to effect monthly payments towards the outstanding indebtedness in the amount of R10,000 per month but has failed to comply with the settlement terms so concluded.”
The star dribbled the homeowners again with his arrears amounting to R46,903. The homeowners again obtained a default judgment against Thabo Qalinge from the same court.
However, they could not attach or sell his furniture because nobody was home. Reports have it that the respondent’s wife is using her maiden surname to mislead the sheriff.
FAKE TRANSACTION
Thabo Qalinge reportedly faked a transaction, according to the court papers.
